Teach yourself phonetics

Welcome to the Teach Yourself Phonetics website!

On this home page, we'll describe the educational program introduce some of the highlights of this interactive approach to learning.

As the title of this site suggest, this short course introduces you to phonetics and linguistics. The topic is addressed in such a way that it should be understandable to a fifth or sixth grade student.

The program is based on a summer linguistics instituted held at the University of North Dakota in 1998. It was a class for primary school and ESL teachers and others who wanted to know more about linguistics with respect to teaching.

The program would also be suitable for parents who were interested in home schooling and want to cover the basics of English spelling in greater detail than in the public schools.

There is no charge for this program at present but your tax deductable donations are accepted. The project is supported by a tax exempt non-profit educational foundation.

Participants are asked to join the egroup so their questions and opinions can be shared with the 20 other participants in this program. You can join and leave at any time.
